Events to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Month

June is National Indigenous History Month, and National Indigenous Peoples Day is celebrated June 21. On behalf of the provincial planning committee for AHS National Indigenous Peoples’ Month (NIPM) June 2025, the AHS EMS Indigenous Employees Community of Practice (EMS IE CoP), is inviting you to participate in sessions to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples’ Month and explore this year’s theme, “Hand in Hand Towards Cultural Safety.”

These sessions, also listed within the MFR events calendar, are wonderful opportunities to enrich your understanding of and appreciation for Indigenous Peoples, their histories and cultures.

All sessions are open to the public, so please share widely with your fellow members, friends, and family: Together4Health – National Indigenous Peoples Month 2025.

Join in person or online for the Opening Ceremonies taking place live at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital on June 3, 2025, from 12:00 until 13:30.

To conclude National Indigenous Peoples Month 2025, join the Closing Ceremonies which will take place live at the Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, on June 24, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The EMS IE CoP invites you to join us for a special virtual presentation - Heritage, Culture and Cultural Safety in Emergency Medical Services - on Tuesday, June 10 from 12:00 until 13:00. Click here to register for this event.
